The summer box office is off to a horrible start, but just because Hollywood isn’t making bank from movie theaters doesn’t mean you can’t.
CableTV.com has announced it is hiring for the position of “Chief of Cinema.” Besides getting a cool title to add to your résumé, the lucky applicant who lands the role will be paid $2,500 to watch movies at the movie theater of their choice this summer.
CableTV.com is a site best known for its reviews of cable TV and home internet deals, but in recent years the company has also gained some notoriety for its annual dream job openings. Those dream jobs include the Ho Ho Holiday Dream Job, which pays a person to watch 25 holiday films (and designates them the “Chief of Cheer”), and the aforementioned Summer of Cinema Dream Job.
Applications for the Summer of Cinema Dream Job are now open, with CableTV.com hiring one lucky person to get paid to watch movies this summer. Here are the details if you want to apply for the Chief of Cinema position:
- The job requires that you watch five movies in a movie theater this summer movie season, which ends on August 31, 2024.
- You can watch any movies you want—they don’t have to be new releases. The movies just must be watched in a movie theater, whether that’s a chain theater or your favorite local indie theater.
- If you watch five movies in a movie theater by the deadline, CableTV.com will pay you $2,500.00. CableTV.com will also pay for the cost of your five movie tickets.
Anyone can apply for the Chief of Cinema role provided they are a U.S. resident and 18 years of age or older. Applications can be completed online here and must be submitted by June 17, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time. The successful applicant will be notified between June 17 and June 21.
The only bad thing? You’re still responsible for buying your own popcorn.
