Chick-fil-A is paving the way for a simplified experience that also doesn’t skimp on customer service. The fast-food chain announced Wednesday that it will open an “elevated” drive-through in Atlanta.
The chain’s drive-thru lanes will differ entirely from the standard ordering system and pick-up window. Not only will it have what the brand calls an “elevated kitchen,” which is much larger than the standard at the restaurant, it will feature four lanes and a fast-paced food-delivery-conveyor-belt system.
The design should ensure ultrafast delivery for drive-thru customers. According to the announcement, food can go from the kitchen to team members working on the ground in just six seconds.
“Similar to other existing Chick-fil-A drive-thru-only locations, there is no dining room or dine-in services at this restaurant,” the announcement states. “However, hospitality remains a focal point. Guests will continue to get the service and care that they know and love through an easy, drive-thru-focused experience.”
The drive-thru-only restaurant is not the first shift the chain has made toward speed and efficiency. In March, it introduced its first-ever mobile-only restaurant in Manhattan. At the time, the brand said the location would better serve “on-the-go New Yorkers.”
New Yorkers aren’t the only ones who want their fast food in a matter of seconds, however, and the brand seems to be leaning toward eliminating wait times. “Our Guests lead busy lives, and we’re focused on designing our restaurants to best serve their needs,” Jonathan Reed, executive director of design for Chick-fil-A, said in Wednesday’s announcement.
“With the new Elevated Drive-Thru design, featuring our first four-lane drive-thru, we’re aiming to deliver quality food and genuine hospitality in a way that’s uniquely Chick-fil-A and gives our Guests time back in their day,” Reed added.
While other brands have leaned into AI-ordering systems recently, Chick-fil-A seems to be focused on speed, with a side of customer service. The newest drive-thru will allow you to place an order ahead of time using the mobile app, or with a team member. The food will also be handed to customers by a team member.
The fresh concept will open for business on August 22 at 2155 Jodeco Road in McDonough, Georgia. Like other Chick-fil-As, customers can get their nugs, waffle fries, and peach shakes every day but Sunday.
